Earth Canvas

It has been a while…

This summer I have been taking stock and building upon the learnings and insights from the 2023 Pibroch tour.

One strand of that reflection has been a creative reimagination of (my) history whilst another has been the futurology of “Reflecting on a Future Dance” debuted at Fittie Community Hall and the Scottish Writers Cebtre in Spring 2024.

The third strand of that reflection has been an ongoing work on deep-time entitled ‘Twilt’. Twilt is an extended poetic work of time and place based (if that is a meaningful term) on the Deveron river catchment in which I currently bide.

One element of that work has been the development of a film-poem, In-gangin, reflecting/ narrating the last 4,500,000,000 years of Earth’s (our) journey…a project which has been both mind boggling and genuinely grounding.

I am privileged to be presenting the resultant art work – In-gangin – and a short presentatation as part of the Royal Geological Society’s ‘Earth Canvas’ conference 17th-18th September in London. I hope to share the work more widely in the near future.

My thanks to Pat Corbett and Steve Garrett for their encouragement in this.
