Short Fiction

John Bolland’s short fiction has been published in magazines and anthologies including The London Magazine, Pushing Out the Boat, Lallans and several anthologies.

His short story, A Good Place to Get was runner up in the Royal Society for Literature V. S. Pritchett Short Story Prize in 2007 and Scottische was a prize winner in the 2008 Fish International Short Story Prize.

He is currently working towards his first collection of short fiction. Much of his recent work focusses on stories set in the North East of Scotland and explores the impact of shifts in extractive industries and social culture, from fishing to oil and beyond, in this region.
