Hindcast is part of the Urlar sequence in Pibroch. The poem was prompted by the dissonance between the experience of disaster – whether in the current climate emergency or in the course of the Piper Alpha disaster – and the language of official reports and government and inter-governmental enquiries, which tend to incorporate the ‘problem’ back into ‘business as usual’ without ever coming to grips with the real roots causes and lived experience of catastrophe. The film-poem was first presented as part of the a day of interdisciplinary sharing and collaborations on the topic of The Anthropocene organised via UCLAN , Magma and the Geological Society by Yvonne Reddick and Patrick Corbett.
